Sánchez Abelló - Biography
 

 

A Catalan painter, born in Reus (Tarragona) in 1961. He spent his childhood in Les Borges Blanques (Lleida province). In 1977 he moved to Reus, finding himself in a suitable environment for his artistic development.

At the same time, he learnt to paint in oils at the studio of the painter Pere Calderó, drawing at the Centre de Lectura in Reus and was a founding student during the first three years of the Tascó Art Studio School, together with masters like Joan Casals, Assumpta Rosès, Rufino Mesa and Carles Amill.

In 1983 he entered the St. Jordi Faculty of Fine Art in Barcelona, but left after the first year in order to be able to dedicate himself intensively to painting.

 

1985
In the "Baix Camp Prize Scholarship" his work "The Couple", already selected and hung, was withdrawn for moral reasons. Due to the media response, it was put back.

1987
Finalist in the III Young Painters' Competition at the Anquin's Gallery, Reus.
Finalist in the VIII Baix Camp Visual Arts Salon.

1988
Individual exhibitions in two venues at the same time, nudes at "La Fàbrica" centre and the rest of his work at "La Caixa" centre.
Individual exhibition at "Cucurutxo", Reus.

Took part in the collective exhibition "Homage to Federico García Lorca", in Granada.

1989
Exhibition at the Tarragona Provincial Council

1991
Individual exhibition at the Poster Gallery, Reus.
Individual exhibition in Miami-Hospitalet.

1992
Exhibition at the Torre Vella cultural centre, Salou.
"Infinity, a starting point for understanding the human essence."
Individual exhibition at D'iari, Reus.

1994
Took part in a collective exhibition at the XIV Hazelnut Fair, Riudoms.

1997
"Music and Painting" at Warehouse I in the Port of Tarragona, together with the composer Conrad Setó.

1998
